Blue cross blue shield did us customers dirty. Why didn’t you warn us of impending negotiations prior to open season, giving us the ability to make an informed choice of insurance companies and doctors? I have been suffering over a year, waiting for one last test, EGD with Bravo. I then needed my esophagus, stomach, intestines and several hernias fixed. I paid for the 6 other tests my surgeon demanded I do before he would even schedule the EGD with Bravo. I even got my covid test for the procedure. My surgeon had me go without my 2 esophagus medications prior to the EGD with Bravo. I complied with everything. I got a call 24 hours prior to the EGD with Bravo from Memorial Hermann Hospital demanded $5,000.00 right then on the phone and that did not include anesthesia, doctor, radiology, labs, IV’s. They informed me Memorial Hermann is the only Hospital to have 6 of the EGD monitors and it can only be done by Dr Erik Wilson. I was on a waiting list. I paid for all the other tests he demanded. I have been in horrible pain and all the hospital said is, "I can take your credit card over the phone." Then when I called the surgeons office to see if he has privileges elsewhere, I was told, "no, just Memorial Hermann Fannin." I asked why they waited till the last minute to tell me they are canceling my surgery. They said, "yes well, if you want to pay out of pocket for everything, you can. Otherwise, your surgery is canceled and it’s too bad." Now what am I supposed to do? He told me he is the only surgeon in town, who knows how to fix me.
